About this deal

Setting up the SA-SW5 is a breeze, thanks to its wireless connectivity. Simply connect it to your audio system using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and you're good to go. This wireless feature not only reduces cable clutter but also provides the flexibility to place the subwoofer anywhere in the room for optimal bass response. This is particularly useful if you have limited space or if you prefer a clean and minimalist setup. Updating the bar to firmware version 1.779 adds support for ALLM and HDMI Forum. The Video Passthrough to TV score improves from 8.4 to 9.5 as a result. The deep, hypnotic bass in Björk’s Hyperballad is punchy, confident and rounded, with only the very lowest notes flattened off slightly. There’s plenty of headroom to push the volume but it’s unlikely you’ll need to venture above 70 unless you have very understanding neighbours. The subwoofer has concentric cuts on the edge. It maneuvers the stress inside and outside the diaphragm. How to Use Sony SA-SW5 300W Wireless Subwoofer Sony's new HT-A7000 soundbar is great on its own, but there's no denying the benefits of a discrete, standalone subwoofer. Sony has introduced two options of wireless subwoofers to pair with the A7000: the more compact 200W SW3 subwoofer, and this 300W SW5 subwoofer, which is an absolute beast. If you have the room (and cash) to spare, the SW5 subwoofer is an essential add-on for the A7000 soundbar.

Big and heavy for a soundbar sub. It’s substantially harder to move around than the SW3 and the shape makes it awkward to hold. Another benefit of the wireless system is its portability. You do not need several cables along with the subwoofer. If you are placing it from one location to another, it is still straightforward. 2. Explosive Bass The virtual 7.1.2-channel HT-A7000 works with all the major Dolby and DTS surround-sound formats, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, as well as the growing Sony 360 Reality Audio format. However, built-in DSP, which Sony calls the Vertical Surround Engine, converts any audio material to utilize the full 7.1.2 channels, making any piece of music or video take advantage of the soundbar’s top-firing speakers and side beam tweeters. The remote control’s Immersive AE (Audio Enhancement) button turns on this function. Even on material that’s already formatted for all the channels, such as Dolby Atmos movies and music, Immersive AE still adds a boost of overhead spaciousness to the soundstage. I liked using the Immersive AE function on almost all the music and videos I played, with the exception of some live talk shows where the audience’s laughter and applause were too high in the mix. Connection and compatibility optionsWith 300 watts of force available, it’s hard not to feel the effect of the Sony SA-SW5. Sony’s proprietary Sigma Magnetic Circuitry technology maximises the magnetic force, giving you bass that’s not just deep but powerful and sustained. If you are using an HDMI soundbar, the process is the simplest. All you need is to connect one end to your TV and the other end to your soundbar ‘TV OUT’ port. The most basic step you can take to improve the sound quality of the soundbar is to run a basic room calibration test. This takes just 20 seconds and it will help the soundbar know how far away from walls it is and which channels need extra power. I’ve no idea why they were pushing it so hard because there were hardly any in the country and I had to wait a month for it to even arrive.

Bass, especially lower bass, is more controlled and detailed compared to the SW3. When playing bass heavy movies, I could hear the nuances in the low notes. Possibly slightly more low end extension than the SW3, but it is negligible . For a bottom end boost to your compatible* Sony soundbar or home cinema system, you need the Sony SA-SW3 wireless subwoofer. The Samsung Q990 on the other hand is another story. Obviously the Samsung has a sub-woofer and rear speakers, so it has the advantage of separating sound. I never tested just the soundbar alone. The sound really seems to surround you, very immersive, crisp, great bass (I had to turn down the sub to -2), the Adaptive sound did an amazing job of separating all around the living room and kitchen area to the point where it made me want to re-listen to some of my favourite music for the joy of it. We also noticed that the soundbar cut out once or twice during our two-week testing period. It would happen without rhyme or reason and would momentarily cause the audio to stop before resuming - however, it was certainly annoying whenever it happened. And that brings us to the end of this detailed guide on the Sony SA-SW5 300W wireless subwoofer. But, it leads to the question, should you buy it or not? Well, the choice is yours. If you have a little extra money to spend, the wireless subwoofer is the best option. It offers amazing sound quality with a minimal design and ease of use. A sony stereo system with subwoofer is one of the best ways you can take your sound quality to another level.Since it is an optional addition, many people do not even know about the subwoofer. If it were a standalone Sony speaker, it would have gained more popularity. 2. A bit Costly Added a market comparison with the LG S90QY with SPQ8-S Speaker Kit to the Sound Enhancement Features box. I,ve paired mine with an XR65A80J OLED, and to be honest the effect is amazingly cinematic. The tv is a stunner and the bar just adds the boom. The sound from the a80 was already good because it uses “acoustic surface” which is amazing in and of itself, but because the pairing is all on brand the bar uses that AS as an extra centre speaker. With the Atmos format (or the less common Sony 360 Reality Audio) the HT-A7000 really shines. It was a treat to watch big-budget movies that clearly put attention into Atmos sound mixing. In Dune, the rotary dirge of the dragonfly-like ornithopters, the paranormal voices during Paul Atreides’ hallucinations, and the desert-shaking movements of the sandworms took on a multidimensional realism as sounds scattered over, around, and through the room.
