About this deal

Ever since we have done this magical floating ball experiment, my kids have performed the experiment by themselves multiple times. Since all you need is a piece of paper, straw, tape, and of course, a ball, they can recreate this fun toy anytime. What I love is that every time my kids make one of these floating ball devices, they change the size of the cone or the length of the straw to experiment with what parameters would work best. Turn away from the gathered crowd and prepare for the upcoming spectacle. When you face the audience again you are clasping a shiny steel ball between your hands. Use straws of different lengths. We also cut the one we have shorter to test out if it would be easier to make the ball float. The Professional Floating Ball is designed to resemble a disco mirror ball. The idea is the ball must be heavy if it has to be held above a dance floor by chains and rods.

Note: The prop for this gag can be located in almost every kitchen around the world. If you don’t have one in your kitchen, you are sure to be able to locate it at most supermarkets for a relatively cheap price.

I don’t want to reveal every single movement, but since we live in a world where gravity exists, no objects can float in the air. When magicians don’t use one of the previous methods, it’s usually just a piece of string. Really, it’s that simple. To make things float, magicians use the "Invisible Thread" most of the times.
